The New Road, Hillsborough
This project was a replacement dwelling in a rural hilltop location, which required a sensitive design to enable the large dwelling to blend into the landscape, without appearing visually dominant. The design utilised a palette of visually familiar elements, of dormer windows, slate roofs of varying planes and rooflines, smooth lime-based render, and with a facing stone entrance stair tower, gothic-style front entrance door, and sunroom with thatched roof providing areas of interest and individuality to the property. The house was traditionally constructed using cavity blockwork construction, pre-cast concrete floors with underfloor heating throughout, and solar roof panels.
