55 Beverley Hills, Bangor
This existing 1970’s detached property is located on an elevated site overlooking Bangor town and sea-front, and the brief was to provide an open-plan internal living space with large glazed areas, and with a first floor level roof terrace to benefit from the panoramic views over Belfast Lough. The original house had been previously refurbished but lacked character, and the client initially approached us seeking a highly glazed extension that would improve the visual appeal of the house to the front elevation, and include a roof terrace with some form of sunroom/sitting space internally. The finished design successfully blends the new extension visually into the existing front elevation, and includes frameless glass perimeter balcony guarding to a first floor roof terrace, a circular ground floor turret snug room with a stove and with a circular rooflight concealed behind a parapet coping, and a 4m width concertina glazed frontage with panoramic views over Belfast Lough.
